Abuse Scandal at La Plata Home: Worker Accused of Molesting Minors

A complaint of alleged sexual abuse against minors staying at the Hogar Obra del Padre Cajade, a historic institution in La Plata dedicated for decades to housing children in extreme vulnerability, has recently shaken social organizations, the judicial sphere, and the area of Children's Affairs in the Province of Buenos Aires. Within the provincial government, the Provincial Agency for Children and Adolescents confirmed the removal of G.D.F. In an internal statement to the community, the institution's leadership emphasized that their absolute priority is the well-being of the children and that containment measures have been activated for both the complainants and the other children living there. The incidents, according to the initial findings of the case, are said to have taken place within the facility's premises, in a particularly sensitive context: that of children who arrive at these homes with histories of previous violence, abandonment, or neglect and who depend on the responsible adults for their daily care. The accused, identified by his initials as G.D.F., worked as a caregiver at the home and simultaneously held a hierarchical position within the Provincial Agency for Children and Adolescense, under the Ministry of Community Development. Upon learning of the judicial complaint, he was dismissed from the institution and removed from his position in the provincial state. According to the elements included in the complaint, the alleged incidents number at least six and would have occurred over several years, with an estimated start around 2015. The accused has not been arrested for the time being, a situation that arouses concern among relatives and acquaintances of the alleged victims, who fear a possible flight risk and point out that he is a person with ties to local social and political circles. From the Ministry of Community Development, led by Andrés 'El Cuervo' Larroque, they indicated that the dismissal is final and that they will remain at the disposal of Justice to collaborate as needed, while deploying an institutional approach to evaluate the case and reinforce internal controls.
